Welcome to the online presence of San Diego Zouk Lambada!
The inspiration for starting a zouk dancing group in San Diego began in 2007 after living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Seeing the large, yet close-knit family atmosphere they had in their zouk lambada community spurred the interest to start a similar scene in San Diego. We had our first zouk workshop in October of 2008 with Willem Engel of Holland and in January 2009 we started offering zouk lambada classes. In March, June, and July of 2009 Mari Hodges came from Buenos Aires to give zouk workshops, in August of 2009 Leon Gordin came from Tel Aviv, Israel and taught zouk classes, and we have more international teachers lined up in the near future!
Our sister city, Los Angeles, also has a thriving zouk lambada group based out of Tarzana. Together we are promoting the growth of this beautiful dance in Southern California and acting as zouk ambassadors to zouk dancers abroad.
